CNG Truck Cleans up Live Earth
Concert
Thursday, 07 June 2007
USA, New York
A compressed natural gas (CNG)
powered refuse truck was the
unsung hero of last weekend’s
Live Earth New York Concert,
providing an active
demonstration of the role of
natural gas vehicles (NGVs) in
fighting climate change. An
Interstate Waste Services Co.,
Inc. demonstration truck
handled trash collection
duties at the event. “Putting
trucks like these into
operation in the New York area
and all across the country is
one of the best strategies
available today for reducing
air pollution and cutting
greenhouse gases,” said Joanna
Underwood, President of Energy
Vision, a national
environmental organization. “I
might say that this refuse
truck is the rock star of the
refuse industry!” she said.

Free Service Connects
Drivers with Fuel
Forget all the stories you’ve
heard about compressed natural
gas (CNG) stations being hard to
find. Motorists in the US now
have it even easier with the
introduction of a telephone
based service to find
alternative fuel refilling
stations throughout the country.
The Better World Club, a leading
green auto club, is partnering
with CALSTART, North America's
leading advanced transportation
technologies consortium, to
provide drivers with alternative
fuel station information while
on the go via a free phone
service that uses information

OEM Vehicles and Engines Hot
Topic on Strasbourg Agenda
Thursday, 21 June 2007
France, Strasbourg
OEMs across the range of light
and heavy duty vehicles
dominated proceedings on Day 2
of the ENGVA Annual Conference
and Exhibition in Strasbourg
today. With more than 65 models
from 22 manufacturers, Europeans
are arguably the ‘most spoilt’
for OEM natural gas vehicles
(NGVs). While NGVs are still a
relatively minor segment for
most OEMs, one message that
remained consistent throughout
was that manufacturers take the
segment seriously with
outstanding innovations arising
from this commitment.

Have Your CNG Vehicles Checked
After Accidents
Thursday, 21 June 2007
France, Strasbourg
The IANGV Technical Committee
has issued a warning to
motorists and compressed natural
gas (CNG) vehicle owners to have
their vehicles checked
thoroughly in the event of any
accident. The Tech Committee
sent a clear message; even if
only a minor accident, a CNG
vehicle should be put through a
full system check by a qualified
installer or inspector to ensure
that the cylinder and/or high
pressure fuel system haven't
been damaged. Though natural gas
is a considerably safer fuel
than gasoline or diesel, CNG
vehicles have high pressures
systems that can be compromised
in the event of an accident.
