Asia Pacific Carbon Fund Raises More than $150 Million

The Asia Pacific Carbon Fund, managed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), has raised $151.8 million to help develop clean energy projects in the Asia Pacific region. The seven European countries involved – including Belgium, on behalf of the Flemish region, Finland, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland – also expect this investment will help them achieve their carbon emission reduction commitments under the Kyoto Protocol.

Clean Air Power Completes Engine Management System Project

UK based dual-fuel system developer, Clean Air Power Ltd (CAP) says the company has completed their latest engine management system project, upgraded software which the company says will be used in all future CAP dual-fuel products. In a statement released earlier this month, the company says the new software could make Euro V emissions possible without OEM participation, though “a cooperation agreement with a major truck or engine manufacturer remains the number one priority”.

OCTA Eyes Plug-Ins for CNG Buses

Southern California’s Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) is looking ahead to an electric vehicle future, and may have one or more of its hundreds of on-order compressed natural gas-fueled New Flyer buses outfitted for plug-in hybrid operation. Fleets and Fuels reports that OCTA is mapping out a path to hydrogen fuelled buses with the CNG hybrids providing one possible path.  The Authority has 377 CNG buses on order with New Flyer (about two dozen have been delivered) and could order 300 more in 2012 or so.
