IWB Save 35 Tons of CO2
with Natural Gas Fleet
Wednesday, 04 July 2007
Swiss
utility, IWB (Industrial Works
of Basel) have reached a
milestone, adding their
hundredth natural gas vehicle
(NGV) to their fleet and in the
process becoming the largest
natural gas fleet owner in
Switzerland, equaling the record
of advertising giant APG
Affichage, who also have 100
NGVs in their fleet. IWB, whose
200 vehicle fleet is now 50%
fuelled by natural gas, crossed
the milestone with the purchase
of a compressed natural gas
(CNG) fuelled truck mounted sky
tower (cherry picker).
CO2 emissions reductions for the
past year as a result of IWB’s
NGV fleet have been calculated
to amount to 35 tons. With
biomethane benefits taken into
account, the savings add up to
54 tons.
The CG fuelled sky tower will be
deployed on street lighting
duties in an around Basel.
