Iveco has delivered six
compressed natural gas powered (CNG)Dailys
to Groundforce, the handling
services company of the Spanish
airlines group Air Europa for
operation in the airport of
Madrid.
The ultra-low emission trucks
comply with E.E.V. (Enhanced
Environmentally Friendly
Vehicle) levels for the emission
of exhaust pollution, and are
the first automotive vehicles to
be part of the new handling
equipment with CNG engines to
dramatically reduce airport
ground equipment fleet noise and
exhaust emissions according to a
project developed by AENA, the
Spanish state owned company for
airport management.
The Iveco trucks are bodied with
a dedicated flat bed for
handling operation and have a
total weight of 3.5 tons, and
the engines have a
stoichiometric combustion
system, multi-point electronic
injection and closed-loop
control based on a lambda probe.
Iveco CNG ultra low emission
trucks cover
the light applications from 3.5
to 6.5 tons with the Daily
range, trucks and vans; the
medium weight with the EuroCargo,
12 and 16 ton; and the heavy
trucks from a total weight of 18
to 26 tons, with configurations
of two and three axles, 4x2 and
6x2x4, this last one has a
trailing steering axle with
pneumatic suspension.
