Madrid’s municipal company for
urban transport, EMT de Madrid
has chosen Irisbus Iveco in
their latest tender as the only
supplier for its CNG fleet of
urban buses with the inclusion
of 60 new CityClass CNG units.
With this order, EMT will have
350 CNG buses in its fleet by
the end of 2007.
All the units will have a rigid
configuration and a length of 12
m and will be fitted with the
Iveco Cursor 8 CNG engine, with
a 7.8 litre displacement, a
maximum power rating of 200 kW
from 1750 to 2000 r/min, and a
maximum torque of 1100 Nm from
1100 to 1700 r/min.
This engine, like all Iveco
natural gas engines, complies
with E.E.V levels for the
emission of exhaust pollution
giving much lower values than
those required from the current
European emission regulation,
for example: in accordance with
the European standard 2005/55/EC
(Euro 4), it emits 0.53 g/kWh of
NOx while the E.E.V. limit for
this pollutant is situated at 2
g/kWh. This level of about 0.5
g/kWh will be the probable value
of the future Euro 6 emission
regulation.
Besides, Irisbus Iveco is
delivering 30 units of its
CityClass CNG model to the
municipal transport company of
Seville (TUSSAM). The units,
with a length of 12 m will be
added to the current CNG bus
fleet of 50.
In June, Burgos, a city in the
north of Spain put in service
two new CityClass CNG units ,
these have been added to the
current CNG bus fleet of 12
units.
The total Irisbus Iveco CNG bus
fleet in Europe now consists of
more than 3,900 units.
