49% over past 5 years
Pakistan moves to second rank
Upgraded data facilities on the
IANGV website now make
historical and additional
reference material available
online for stakeholders looking
for information on natural gas
vehicles around the world.
Replacing previous data which
only showed current vehicle and
refueling station numbers, new
data shows historical natural
gas vehicle growth (where
available) back as far as 1991
and includes current rankings
based on vehicle numbers as well
as market penetration relative
to total vehicle numbers.
Included also are growth charts
on a global and regional basis.
Data collated shows average
industry growth, based on
vehicle numbers, for the past
five years reaching 30.6%, with
Asia leading the field with an
eye opening 49.7% average.
Latest updates show Pakistan has
moved to second place in terms
of vehicle numbers with the
country how home to 1.55 million
natural gas vehicles, ahead of
long time second place holder
Brazil on 1.425 million.
Argentina remains the largest
user of NGVs with last reported
figures of 1.65 million.
Total reported figures now
exceed 6.8 million natural gas
vehicles worldwide, though with
no reported data from several
countries so far this year, this
number is likely to be in excess
of 7 million.
