ANGVA Calls for EOIs for 2009 Conference and Exhibition

Thursday, 19 July 2007

The Asia-Pacific NGV Association (ANGVA) is seeking expressions of interest from organizations  that would like to undertake the task of being Organizer of the Conference and Exhibition ANGVA 2009. It has been decided that ANGVA will hold a conference every two years, the next one being ANGVA 2007 in Bangkok in November.  The conference and exhibition after that should be held in the second half of 2009.

Issues that will be considered during the decision making for the conference venue include the following:

1.      Strong local NGV industry

2.      State of development of local NGV programme.

3.      Track record of conference organizer, including financial backing

4.      Likely collaboration and support from local and national government

5.      The maintenance of a reasonable geographical spread over the years for the venue

6.       Industry participation and support

7.       ANGVA actual and potential membership in the area and level of NGV activity

8.       Potential benefits and financial return to ANGVA

9.      Anticipated competition from other conferences at the planned time

10.   Ease and cost of travel from around the Asia Pacific region

11.  Good shipping access for exhibitors with adequate floor loading for heavy equipment

12.  Good exhibition area with close outdoor area for vehicles

13.  Conference area immediately adjacent to exhibition area

14.  Main theatre about 500 or more with 3 breakout rooms close by

15.  4 or 5 star conference hotel + a selection of cheaper hotels

16.  Suitable room for Board and General Meetings, either at Conference Hotel or conference centre.

The association has a document which deals with these issues in more detail.  This may be obtained from the Secretary General by email to garth_harris@compuserve.com.This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

As noted above, expressions of interest are being sought at this stage (so that not all of these issues need to be dealt with in detail in any submission). The Board of ANGVA will consider the expressions of interest and select one organization to submit a detailed proposal with a view to negotiating a contract for ANGVA2009.

Expressions of interest should be sent to the Secretary General by 1 September 2007.
